Aragon is a world leader in the production of dehydrated alfalfa, this forage and its combinations or mixtures with other forages are essential for animal feed that end up becoming the basis for human food. This is something shared by any country that needs to feed its animals to produce food. It is fed to sheep, dairy cows, horses and camels in the Middle East and Asia, which find value in its high protein content. Our region is home to the largest alfalfa granary in Spain, representing nearly 60% of the national total<\/strong>. The favorable climate, the availability of water and wind create an ideal ecosystem, giving a competitive advantage to cooperatives and companies dedicated to dehydrating fodder. This environment makes Aragon the pillar of a market that leads in Europe and ranks second worldwide, second only to the United States. The distribution capacity by ship from the Ebro valley and Los Monegros underlines the strength of our production, despite challenges such as the drought of 2023.<\/p>\n\n

Forsa, one of the main producers of dehydrated alfalfa in Aragon, has a turnover of 11 million euros and plans to triple its current production, which stands at 58 million tons.<\/p>\n\n

We are aware of the importance of shipping in our exports to the Middle East and Asia, but we also know that geopolitical disruptions can profoundly affect product profitability due to the price sensitivity of ocean freight.<\/p>\n\n

Alfalfa<\/strong> production in Aragon<\/strong> has a long tradition, with more than 100,000 hectares<\/strong> dedicated to this crop since the mid-20th century. The region has become a quality benchmark for alfalfa, thanks to the experience of companies such as Forsa<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n
