Alfalfa, Improver Species: Ecoregimes

The alfalfa is an improvement species and this is contemplated in the requirements of the CAP and ecosystems, specifically in the sections of the GAEC7 and the EcoScheme P3:
– The BCAM7 / Crop Rotation is what is called Enhanced Cross Compliance and is mandatory. Depending on the farm you can grow 2 or 3 crops, and if you have more than 75% of the arable land in alfalfa, as it is a leguminous and permanent crop you are already complying with this regulation.
– In the P3 EcoRegime for Better Crop Rotation, the farmer can voluntarily opt-in to the regulation and will receive additional support provided that he follows a series of requirements.
